A Championship Manager legend is on the run from prison.

Justin Georcelin is wanted by Northants Police after absconding from HMP Springhill, Grendon Underwood, Aylesbury.

The 33-year-old former Northampton Town player was jailed in 2006 after a his part in a series of robberies in which taxi drivers were threatened a knifepoint.

Georcelin was a promising young football are gained cult status as a one of the stars players of Championship Manager 2001/2002, when he was 15. He could be purchased for a small fee and would often develop to become one of the best strikers in the game.

A police statement released said: "Police are appealing for the public’s help in tracing a man with links to Northamptonshire who has absconded from prison.

"Justin Georcelin, aged 33, was last seen in his room at HMP Springhill in Grendon Underwood, Aylesbury, between 11.30pm on Sunday and 12.15am (on Monday). It is believed he left the open prison at about 12.40am (on Monday).

"Georcelin is mixed race, 6ft, and of medium build. He has short black hair, brown eyes and a goatee beard.

"Georcelin has links to Kettering and Northampton.

DC Carolyn of Thames Valley Police, said: “We are working to trace Justin Georcelin as soon as possible and are appealing for the public’s help to report any sightings. Anyone who sees Georcelin should not approach him but should instead call 999.”
