Profit Accumulator this week welcomed the latest member to a reach a landmark amount.

We ask our members to let us know when they reach landmark profits from matched betting and the latest to break the barrier is Ben, a 29-year-old from Cornwall.

We asked Ben a few questions about his achievement.

How long have you been matched betting?

I’ve been matched betting since September 2015. I spent three months last year traveling around Argentina, Chile and Uruguay. I did a little bit of matched betting as I went and paid for the trip while I was there. I also had three or four months off last summer but, apart from that, I've been full-time.

What's your approach?

These days I tend to pick and choose the offers as I’m more knowledgable about, the ones that pay well for less time spent.

At the beginning, I would just do every offer available and would put in a lot of hours. It helped me learn quickly and build a larger bank which I would say is very important so make the more serious money.

How much time do you spend matched betting?

At the moment, I probably spend 25 to 30 hours a week matched betting.

Is it right you used to be a pro poker player?

Yes I was a poker player, predominantly online. I don’t play anymore, I finished two years ago. I was playing poker for a living from the age of 20 so I did it for quite a long time. I much prefer matched betting for many reasons.

The main one being the risk-free nature of matched betting. When playing poker I could go days, weeks, even months without making any profit due to the swingy nature of it. I’m usually in profit every day matched betting, that obviously makes it a lot less stressful than poker was.

I love watching sport and have always been good with numbers. To be able to combine the two and make a good living from it is amazing.

Do you have a 'normal' job?

I don’t have a job as I’m a full-time matched bettor. I can make much more money doing this as, in Cornwall, decent job opportunities are hard to find, sadly. I am planning to use the money I’m saving from matched betting to start my own business.

What advice would you give to other matched bettors?

My advice for people trying to make decent money would be to try to save a big a bankroll. This obviously helps to do more offers and then the profit really increases.
