The fight between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor is expected to break boxing betting records.

Mayweather's 2015 bout with Manny Pacquiao remains the biggest night in boxing the industry has ever seen in terms of amounts staked (about £25m), but the bookies reckon even more will be taken when Money and The Notorious step into the ring.

Both fighters announced on Wednesday night via social media that the bout will go ahead on 26 August.

Bookmaker Ladbrokes have since said they've already seen enough activity in the market to suggest this will comfortably be the biggest fight in betting history.

Of course, this means there will be plenty of special offers leading up to the fight - making it perfect for making a guaranteed income from matched betting.

Alex Apati, of Ladbrokes, said: "The £20m we took as an industry in the buildup to the AJ v Klitschko fight came dangerously close to smashing records.

"But we're forecasting double the amount of that figure to be staked by the time these two blockbuster names come to blows."

Mayweather v McGregor betting odds

  • Mayweather - 1/12
  • McGregor - 13/2
  • Draw - 25/1
