Her Majesty The Queen is likely to wear blue at Royal Ascot, according to research.
The team at bettingexpert have crunched all the data since 2005 to show Her Majesty has opted for that colour hat at the equine showpiece more times than any other shade.
The Queen has popped on a blue hat a remarkable 14 times at the Royal meeting since 2005 and it’s the only colour the Queen has worn on at least once every year.
Royal Ascot 2017 gets under way on Tuesday, June 20 and runs through to Saturday, June 24.
Stephen Harris, racing editor at Better Collective, said: “Betting on the Queen’s hat is a bit different to reading the form, but this research goes to show that there’s certainly some trends to follow and backing blue certainly looks the way to go."
Pink’s the tip for day two, with bettingexpert’s study showing Her Majesty has been crowned in pink for 42% of her visits to the Berkshire track on the Wednesday.
After that it’s time to tone down and wheel out the white. White has a 25% strike-rate on Ladies’ Day, the Thursday, and has a stonking 42% chance of coming out the box for the Friday.
Henrik Lykkesteen, chief commercial officer for Better Collective, said: “At bettingexpert, we’re always looking to give punters the edge and our latest data on the Queen’s hat-wearing trend could prove to be profitable.
“While a lot of time and energy will be put into picking a winner on the track, a successful bet on the colour of the Queen’s hat would get the day off to a cracking start.”
